I am getting so excited with all that we will have available for you on September 21st! The show will go from 10am till 5pm.

This special one day event is held at our home which is on 17 acres. This year we have added a Farmer’s Market section – so besides the hand picked incredible artists- we will also have wineries, bakers, cheese makers and farmers too!>br>

Our goal- is to make the day unlike anything you will experience in Upstate NY!

We invite you to bring some lawn chairs and relax on the front lawn and listen to the tunes of our classic rock band that plays from start to finish. I guarantee you 100% – you will have a great time!

There is a $1 entrance fee from guests and that money will be contributed to the featured charity of our choice for this year’s sale- which is Cracker Box Palace ~ a registered non-profit farm haven in Alton, NY. It is a unique place in Wayne County where farm animals of every kind come to recover from illness, neglect or abuse. Some of our residents come here due to family deaths, or because their owners can no longer give them the care they need. All animals are taught that they still have friends and all people are not bad.

Thanks and hope to see you there!

Have you met Ellen & Adrienne?
Adrienne ellen

You probably have received a hand written note from them if you have ordered product through The Purple Painted Lady or have met them if you stopped in my Macedon location.

Well, these 2 are my awesome and cute summer crew.

I will be away from my shop this week. I am off to get inspired and recharged! Thankfully, I can leave my shop knowing all will be taken care of and that Ellen and Adrienne will take wonderful care of you. Both are very knowledgeable, and will be shipping your paint orders the same day as they are placed.

Adrienne has helped me on kitchen cabinet painting jobs, and knows what it is like to paint and wax 40 cabinet doors in one week. Ellen, a sign language college graduate is extremely sweet and also- very helpful and knowledgeable.

Feel free to continue to email us at thepurplepaintedlady@gmail.com or call us at 585.750.6056 when needed- because they have my back and I trust them to provide the best level of customer service to you. (and if you know me, being the “A” type personality that I am- that says a lot about the quality of these young women!)

Have a great week ladies being in charge of The Purple Painted Lady!

FREE Wax Clinics at The Purple Painted Lady in Macedon

Hi all!

I know how much you love using the paint that we sell- but I often hear that waxing is not the easiest thing to do for you.

How much do you apply?
How should you apply it?
When do you wipe it off?
How much do you remove?
And….what about Dark Wax?

Well, we will be offering TWO FREE Clinics on How TO USE SOFT WAX on Thursday, August 15th. One event is from noon till 1pm (may go longer) and the other is later that night from 6 to 7pm. The clinics are FREE, but please register through our Facebook Event page HERE.

You must be registered to attend since it will help us plan and accommodate for all who would like to attend!

Hope to see you there!

English Yellow Is Here!

English Yellow Is almost Here!

We are so excited to welcome our newest color, English Yellow next week! (week of 6/24/2013)

Pre-orders for quarts only are being accepted now HERE.

Again, English Yellow is expected to arrive the week of 6/24/2013. If ordering English Yellow, your entire order placed will ship next week after we receive our truckload of English Yellow.

Annie Sloan explains English Yellow as, “This clean yellow was particularly popular in English 18th Century decoration inspired by hand painted Chinese wallpaper and the development of Chrome Yellow pigment. It was the first non earthy yellow and at first would be very expensive. In the 1950s this yellow became popular as a strong primrose. It can be mixed with Antibes Green to make lime green.”

Don’t forget when purchasing Chalk Paint® Decorative Paint by Annie Sloan- to consider purchasing her Clear Wax also. Annie’s paint and wax were created to partner perfectly together! The paint itself will harden but the wax will truly protect it! The wax does completely harden and it becomes hard and is water repellent. It is a wonderful protective finish that you can buff once dry- to the sheen you desire.

Distress Before OR After Waxing…. that is the question.

Distress before OR after waxing, that is the question.

You can distress prior to waxing or after. There are reasons on when you might want to distress after, however, I typically distress before. >br>
Slide3
If you sand before waxing- it will be less work since you are not sanding through the wax application. If you sand before waxing though- the Chalk Paint® that you are removing with the sand paper will turn into a fine powder and settle down on the floor…put a drop cloth down to save on mess. AND never- use a damp mop to clean up the particles! The moisture will turn the powder into a wash and you will get the color all over your floor.

If you sand AFTER waxing- it takes a bit more elbow grease, and you will probably want to add another layer of clear wax to protect the raw areas you sanded…but if this is your first time ever painting and distressing…by having a wax application on the painted piece first- you won’t accidentally take off too much paint, as you learn how to finesse the sand paper with the right amount of pressure.

Also-(and for example) if you painted a piece in Graphite while it is sitting in an all white room that has white carpet, I would still put a drop cloth down and distress after waxing. If you sand after waxing, you will see you have less dust since the wax and paint removed seem to stick more onto your sandpaper.
