QUESTION: I painted my kitchen cabinets in March with alkyd based paint. I don’t like the color and would like to go over it with Annie Sloan chalk paint. Will chalk paint work for this project? Is there anything prep-wise that I would need to do?

ANSWER: It’s fine to paint over an oil based paint with Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan. If the existing surface is shiny/glossy however, you might want to lightly sand to ‘break’ the surface and provide a better key for the paint.
